Towed to Marine Railway December 19th. Measurements were taken and construction of a temporary stub bow was began. With the Shaw removed, repair work began on the floating drydock. Navy divers had to plug and patch over 150 holes caused by the bombs and explosion before the drydock could be refloated on January 9. ARD-2 was back in service by January 25th and Shaw battered hull was back on the blocks with her temporary stub bow being installed the next day. Also installed were a temporary mast and bridge.

Shaw underwent sea trials with her new bow on February 4th and left for the US and Mare Island on February 9th.
