This website is still in development. The prewar History and Gallery sections are done and the December 7th sections are being worked on.
The USS Shaw was one of three destroyers who gained notoriety in the attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7th, 1941. Unlike
Ward and Monaghan, which received credit for defending the harbor from Japanese Midget submarines, Shaw is known for the spectacular explosion she created
when fires set off her forward magazine. But unlike Ward and Monaghan, which survived the attack unscathed yet did not survive the war, Shaw was rebuilt and
survived many battles and ultimately the war.
