U.S.A.F.

In addition to Combat Controllers and ParaRescue, the US Air Force also contributes another ground force to the US SOCOM's deployable forces. Specially trained Air Force Combat Weather Team (CWT) members can collect real-time weather intelligence data during special operations missions. They perform these special reconnaissance missions independently or while augmenting other Combats forces in hostile areas.

Combat Weather forces could be deployed along with Navy SEALs or Army Special Forces to patrol an area before a major mission to help learn as much as possible about the AO as possible before the main force moved in or the mision was started. Additionally, they could be part of a forward deployed base for use by special operations forces on a long range mission or conventional forces on a long-range deployment to a base not normally staffed by American personnel.

The breakdown of the CWT's structure is as follows:

720th Special Tactics Group. Hurlburt Field, FL
10th Combat Weather Squadron. Hurlburt Field, FL (supports USASOC, USASFC, and both 3rd and 7th SFG(A))
Det 1, 10th CWS. Ft. Lewis, WA (supports the 1st SFG(A)).
Det 2, 10th CWS. Ft. Campbell, KY (supports the 5th SFG(A) and 160th SOAR).
Det 3, 10th CWS Ft. Carson, CO (supports the 10th SFG(A)).
Det 4, 10th CWS FT. Benning, GA (supports the 75th Ranger Regiment).
Det 5, 10th CWS Ft Bragg, NC. (suports the 3rd SFG(A)).
OL-A, 10CWS Hunter AAF, GA. (Supports the 1st Ranger Battalion).
OL-A, 320th STS Torii Station JP. (Supports 1/1 SFG(A)).
OL-A, 321st STS Panzer Kaserne GE (Supports the 1/10 SFG(A)).
ACC (Air Combat Command)
19 Air Support Operations Squadron Ft Campbell, KY (Supports the 101st Airborne Corps).
18 Weather Squadron Ft Bragg, NC (Supports the 82nd Airborne Division, XVIII Airborne Corps).

Members of the CWTs are issued the Beretta M9 pistol and/or the M4 assault Rifle. Before trying out for combat weather Air Force airmen and officers must be certified weather forecasters. Members of the Air Force's CWT teams are all jump qualified and some are SCUBA qualified.
